Y a-t-il une ère post-Snowden ?

Jeudi 8 décembre 17h30 - 18h10 / Bart Preneel

Résumé

The Snowden revelations and the information breach at HackingTeam have offered us a glimpse of the techniques used by nation states in the arena of cybersecurity. At the core of these techniques lies massive information collection through interception of communications, collecting meta-data and compromising network nodes and end systems. Some of the more surprising approaches comprise the undermining cryptographic standards, the interception of information protected with commercial cryptography and the insertion of backdoors. Unfortunately it is very difficult to prevent these techniques from proliferating leading to a global cyber arms race. A major concern is that in this setting defending is much harder than attacking. This talk will discuss how these new threat models affect future research in cryptology and how we can address these challenges.
